Gaza's reconstruction must be led by Palestinians

Palestinians in Gaza have endured a destructive military assault that has affected their homes, hospitals, schools, water systems, and essential infrastructure. Rebuilding Gaza must go beyond repairing physical damage. Lasting recovery depends on protecting human rights, supporting local leadership, and ensuring reconstruction reflects the priorities of Palestinian communities.

Any plan for Gaza's reconstruction should be shaped by Palestinians themselves, with their rights, priorities, and leadership at its center.

Sign the petition urging the U.S. government to support a Gaza reconstruction process rooted in Palestinian leadership, human rights, accountability, and self-determination.

Message to Congress

I urge you to use your influence to support a recovery and reconstruction process for Gaza that is led by Palestinians and grounded in international law, human rights, and accountability. The U.S. government must help by:

  • Protecting civilians and ensuring humanitarian access: Use U.S. leverage to secure unrestricted humanitarian access, protect civilians, prevent forced displacement, and uphold international law.
  • Supporting accountable, community-led recovery: Back transparent reconstruction efforts led by Palestinians and supported by trusted humanitarian partners, and reject aid models that politicize assistance or put Palestinians at risk.
  • Advancing Palestinian rights, freedom, and self-determination: Put Palestinian human rights at the center of reconstruction, support Palestinian leadership and self-determination, including recognition of the State of Palestine.
