Strengthen federal care policies

Care work is the bedrock of our society and economy. Yet, our leaders continue to neglect the crucial needs of care workers, caregivers, parents, children, and working families.

The lack of federal investments in care workers and caregivers is disproportionately affecting women—particularly Black and brown women—who bear the brunt of caregiving responsibilities. They are left to grapple with the mental and financial repercussions with little to no support. By centering policies on those who have historically been excluded or overlooked, we have a greater chance of tackling the injustices of poverty, inequality, racism, and sexism.

Sign Oxfam’s petition demanding that President Trump and Congress protect and strengthen policies aimed at bolstering funding for child care, expanding the Child Tax Credit, and guaranteeing paid family and medical leave for all workers.

Message to President Trump and Congress

I'm writing as an Oxfam supporter to urge you to protect and invest in care workers and caregivers by supporting better care policies.

In 2023, the U.S. received a failing grade from Oxfam on support for paid and unpaid caregivers. Today, our care infrastructure still doesn’t adequately support caregivers and caretakers, who are disproportionately mothers and women who take on the majority of these responsibilities at home and in our communities.

Oxfam is advocating for significant federal investments to ensure care workers and caregivers receive the recognition, resources, and respect they rightfully deserve.

Please take urgent action to strengthen policies aimed at bolstering funding for child care, expanding the Child Tax Credit, and guaranteeing paid family and medical leave
