Prioritize Gaza’s recovery and stop the war in the Middle East

Six months after a ceasefire was declared in Gaza, Palestinian families are still suffering. The ceasefire agreement called for an immediate scale-up of aid, but instead, humanitarian access remains a fraction of what’s needed. The Israeli government continues to block sufficient food, water, medical supplies, and other essentials. Millions of civilians remain displaced, living without proper sanitation, shelter, or health care.

As the new war in Iran escalates and the region becomes increasingly unstable, Gaza’s ongoing humanitarian catastrophe is being pushed out of the headlines. But the crisis has not gone away. The lack of meaningful aid access in Gaza is not a logistical problem—it’s a political one. Humanitarian organizations like Oxfam and our local partners are ready to deliver assistance, but the systems needed to reach civilians have been shut down.

Congress has a critical role to play. Lawmakers must demand an end to the Middle East crisis and urgently prioritize Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction. Palestinians deserve safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild.
